Photos by John Coleman: On Sunday last our club hosted round 9 of the National Series the Killorglin G.P. Based on a 16.4km circuit it brought the riders from Gorman’s Cross to Glencuttane through Shanera Meanus Cross and back to the finish line 300m beyond Gorman’s Cross. Sign on was in the Killorglin Sports and Leisure Centre there was a good turn out of underage riders.
Underage racing commenced at 11am our own riders who took part in the underage racing on the day were Aona O’Shea in the U12 race who came third in this event Tiarnach and Tadhg O’Shea in the U14 event both riders rode extremely well with Tadhg getting a solid fourth place result.
In the senior events our own Derry O’Sullivan have a great result finishing 5th in the A4 race over 4 laps of the testing circuit. In the A3 race we had Edward Casey Jamie O’Shea and race organiser Brendan O’Sullivan taking part over 5 laps of the circuit Jamie and Edward and a very good race finishing well in contention in the bunch gallop.
In the main race of the day the A1’s and A2’s had 7 laps of the circuit to complete as part of round 9 of the National Series it was a tough race of attrition but our own clubman Michéal O’Shea put in a massive effort on the day in a race which really tested the endurance of the riders and had a lot of the main contenders from around the country present.
The club would like to thank all those who helped out on the day stewards motorcycle marshalls the start finish personell the people who helped with the refreshments afterwards the Gardaí in Killorglin and the local community and residents for their patience while the event was running.
