Hampers for Riders
What better way to prepare for the festive treats than by getting on the bike for the annual Christmas Hamper ride on December 16th which once again is being organised by the Killorglin Cycling Club.
The two routes are now well known to cyclists of all standards who will again cover 50km or 75km. While it is not a race there are hampers for the first three riders home after the longer route and for the first rider home from the shorter distance.
But at the Killorglin Community Centre where refreshments including hot food will be served there will be numerous raffles for some great seasonal prizes.
Sign-on for the Christmas Hamper ride opens at 8.45am in the Sports Centre with the roll-out at 10am.
The 50km route takes the riders on a relatively flat loop from Killorglin through Killarney, Farranfore, Firies, Miltown and back to Killorglin and is also suitable for u16 who are not allowed on the longer route.
Those on the longer route will continue through Farranfore towards Tralee and they will turn off at Farmers Bridge for the climb to the Killorglin / Tralee road. Riders will be left race back to the starting point.
Refreshments including hot food will be served at Killorglin Community College afterwards. There will be a raffle which all participants will be entered into with some great seasonal prizes on offer
The entry fee is €15 for licence holders and €20 for non-Cycling Ireland licence holders.
