The past weekend was a very busy weekend for our club men with members participating in numerous events. The Kerry County Road Race Championships were promoted on Sunday in Kilflynn by Lee Strand Cycling Club. With heavy rain on the morning of the event the riders were lucky that a clearance came in the weather when racing commenced.

The club had three riders who took part on the day Jamie O’Donoghue,Brendan O’Sullivan and Edward Casey. With a mass start it was racing from the line with 7 laps of the 9.6km circuit to be completed in which the riders had to negotiate a technical decent on a rain soaked course made for some very interesting racing,on the second lap Edward managed to get away with a number of riders from the main field with their advantage ever increasing they managed to pull the advantage from a minute to well over two minutes at the bell signalling the final lap to the chequered flag at the end.

Jamie O’Donoghue put in some very aggressive racing throughout the race along with team mate Brendan O’Sullivan both finished strongly in the bunch sprint. Well done to Ed who took the Gold medal in the A3 category and thanks to Lee Strand for a well stewarded and safe event.

Underage we had the O’Shea brothers Aona and Tiarnach who took part in the all Ireland cycling championships in Ballymoney Co Antrim over the weekend, the boys are a very promising talent in the club and performed very well and wore their jerseys with pride well done lads we will look forward to more good efforts from this duo in the future.

Stafford Wholesale Wexford 2 Day
